National Sleep Awareness Week (NSAW) 2012

National Sleep Awareness Week (NSAW) 2012 | Suddenly Sleepy Saturday | School Awareness

One week out of each year is designated ‘National Sleep Awareness Week’. In 2012, this week takes place from Sunday, March 4 through Saturday, March 10. This week ends, fittingly, just as the clocks are pushed ahead one hour.

The National Sleep Foundation sponsors many events during this week and also encourages sleep professionals, organizations and activists to get involved in the effort to promote the importance of sleep and awareness of sleep disorders.

Narcolepsy Network has proclaimed the last day of NSAW “Suddenly Sleepy Saturday – Narcolepsy Awareness Day”.

While every day is a good day to spread awareness of sleep and sleep disorders, we ask our members and supporters to make a special effort to reach out during National Sleep Awareness Week. It can be as simple as sending a copy of our latest brochure, Narcolepsy in the Classroom (see School Awareness) to a local school nurse. If your narcolepsy symptoms began during your school years, consider sending this brochure to the high school you attended along with a letter telling your narcolepsy story . Find additional suggestions under Raising Awareness.

Together we have and will continue to make a difference!
